Don't know if I am up to this topic yet or not. It has been percolating in me for a long time. More so lately. It has been occurring to me how the hardest times of our life bring the best out in us. Cause us to put down the things that are non-essential, and make room inside us for what's really essential for life.
Think of how the astronauts lose bone mass in proportion to the length of their time in the weightless environment of outer space. Our physical bodies require gravity, require the push-pull, give and take that keeps our joints healthy and our bones and muscles developing, and staying healthy.
Non-essentials laid down - I joined a gym this week and you should have seen me trying to figure out what to do with my cell px and keys the first minute or two! I needed to put them down in a safe place so I could work-out unhindered. Even more so because I have not had enough of the physical push-pull thing going on in quite a while! Phew what a humbling experience that was!
What's really essential for life - I also noted that while I had a healthy breakfast early that morning, I did not bring water, nor drink enough before I left home. I needed less breakfast and more, much more water! Not an experience I will be repeating! Note to self - ALWAYS bring water. I was reminded of how much we need to lean in to Jesus - drink of His presence - even more so during the trial, the work, the "resistance training" that life dishes out.
I know the trials in my life, every one of them, have brought some of the best things to bear in my life. I guess that is why we are told to "count it all joy"!
I will be going back to the gym tomorrow, with my cell and keys secure, less breakfast and water bottle in tow! And I will be joyful! :)
