Way To Go, Gracie! A Few Days Off, Silly Happenings...

How would you like to get a glimpse into the I Love Lucy moments
of what my dear, dear hubby has to endure through life with me!
I have been trying (unsuccessfully)
to keep up with blogging the last few days,
as he has had a few days off since last Thursday,
and he goes back to work Friday (boo-hiss!)
Monday our income tax return came!
3 Cheers!
So, after spending the morning getting household chores done,
getting my youngest started, and set up for his day's school work, then I proceeded to accompany my sweetie to town.

We had some banking to do. Then we took our list
to the local Home Depot.
We had decided last summer to use portions of our return
to build a deck,
on the back of our home,
and a few other home maintenance/improvement projects.
What fun! Seriously!
There's nothing better than sprucing up the home! :)

Sounds good, yes?
Well, I am a high-heeled sandals and jeans girl.
I am USUALLY very adept at negotiating my way around in this fashion.
Usually.
Did I ever tell, Ya'll that my middle name is Grace?
Well, it's not really. But, on numerous occasions,
I have given my husband ample reason to say -
"Way to go, Gracie!"
This day did not disappoint.
As we walk through the parking lot just outside the front double glass doors,
in front of oh, maybe 15 manly, contractor type people at the check-out inside,
my ankle twisted. Unexpectedly (of course),
causing me to stumble to keep from falling,
causing me to fall on my husband's back, rather forcefully, and suddenly.
Causing him to look over his shoulder at me and say
"What are you doing?".
(Not knowing of my Gracie moment!).
Yes, my face was so hot!
RED (like a Valentine's heart!)!
Moing on, we have made our purchases, the wood is paid for, pulled,
loaded up out back for us to load in the trailer we would haul it in.
My Honey grabs a board on one end, I grab the other end, we lift it up and over,
working from left to right.
This goes well, until we have a few boards done,
which means I need to take into account the boards now protruding
from the back end,
right about jaw level...
wait for it, wait for it...
Baaamm! She clocks herself!
Walks right into a protruding board!
Right in front of my Honey, who's like "????"
She sees stars, butterflies, and hears little birdies going
"tweet, tweet, tweet!"
Not even a knot, not even a bruise!
Yup! That's a normal day in the life! :)

Last night when my youngest and I came home from music practice,
one of those crazy moments happened, you ever have this?
Where you come home happy, and then you greet the happy person at home.
Then somehow two happy people have a ridiculous conversation that makes no sense.
and two happy people are now like
"Geesh! What is his/her problem?"
My answer to fix it?
(because really, don't tell, but I was in error this time! Sshh!!)
"Sometimes everything I say is NOT what it means!"
Huh?
(What did I just say?)
Honey wisely just sits this comment out.
15 year old son says,
"Makes. Ears. Bleed. Head. Ache. Does. Not. Compute!"
We had a good laugh at dinner!
Ain't life grand?

Precious. Too precious. I can hear one of my sons saying the same thing to me. I love to joke around with my teens like that. I am SO sorry about your mishaps! I hope your head is okay! The nurse in me wants to come over and fix it!

Good luck on your project. We could use a new deck too.

Girl maybe I should be telling you to watch you not only to watch your six but the whole clock.;)
I shall have to pray for you. ;)
Glad you and hubby had time to spend together.
And how cool about a deck. I have always wanted a screened in porch. Or better yet a big ol glass room. That way I can have plenty of plants away from the heat and mosquitoes.
Enjoy the rest of your time together.

That's sweet, Leslie! Seriously, I must have the hardest head in the WORLD! I have bumped it so many times in my life! Most times I never even get a knot, bruise or whatever, this was no diff, & I am so glad since it was my jaw! Yikes! Wouldn't thant have crushed what's left of my vanity!

Heidi, He did a great job! He really seems to thrive on these sort of projects.

What Does it Mean Anyway? "Free to Fly"...

Well, it's like this: Here are some of the Webster's Dictionary definitions of Free: a : having the legal and political rights of a citizen b : enjoying civil and political liberty c : enjoying political independence or freedom from outside domination d : enjoying personal freedom : not subject to the control or domination of another2 a : not determined by anything beyond its own nature or being : choosing or capable of choosing for itself...having a scope not restricted by qualification 7 a : not obstructed, restricted, or impeded ...Now, here are some of the Webster's Dictionary definitions of Fly:1 a : to move in or pass through the air with wings b : to move through the air or before the wind or through outer space c : to float, wave, or soar in the air ... a : to take flight ...6 : to work successfully ...Examples which apply from Websters: fly high : to be elated - fly in the face of or fly in the teeth of : to stand or act forthrightly or brazenly in defiance or contradiction of

What does this mean in my life? This means that in life we are meant to be free. While historically mankind has not always enjoyed the opportunity to fully appreciate what that means, we are so indescribably fortunate as to live in a time of the greatest spiritual, physical, financial and political freedom ever known. Freedom doesn't come cheap, nor does it come easy. But the best things in life don't come that way do they? As I write this I am struck by how this sounds like a political statement, and for me this is much more of a spiritual thing, but, same goes for that (political that is). Freedom doesn't come easy. And it's worth whatever fight you have to make to overcome in your life in order to live a life that succeeds. Now the questions is - what is success for you? What is your standard? In my mind what is needed is a definite target - because you can't hit and maintain a moving target. A stable, rock-solid, anchor with no variable, yet multi-faceted. Something pure, just and worthy. If you look at any web page of news you can see that our society is certainly lacking in this area. What a great time to live as a rebel! Nowadays to be a rebel, all you have to do is be willing to engage in the battle of life, while anchored to Christ!
