People, You Just Can't Make This Stuff Up!

I get several little e-mail news bulletins.
This was just too good!
A pair of brothers are so devoted to Star Wars,
they have started their own religion, called "Anglesey Order of Jedi".
Inspiration apparently struck after the release of the UK's census data in 2001. 390,000 listed their religion as Jedi.
Yes, tis true!
Things are apparently flourishing for the new religion,
as they are in the process of extending their reach from the UK,
to the Philippines and Florida.

It would seem that the Order of the Jedi is a risky one.

Recently, while filming a documentary with his cousin, Barney Jone (co-founder), who also goes by the title "Jedi Master Jonba Hehol" was attacked
by a crutch wielding man dressed as Darth Vadar.
(Where was his trusty light sabar?)

Some of Vadar's victims included Barney, a hairdresser and the media crew on the scene.
The Force must have been strong with Jones and company,
as the cameraman filmed it,
and now the North Wales Police are searching for Vadar.
Oh, Yoda where are you??

Some people are so wacky! I can still remember when I saw "Star Wars" for the first time in the theater. I was in 7th grade... But I fall asleep now when we go to the midnight movies on Thursday night (Cause the fam can't wait till tomorrow, for a reasonable showtime??!) to see all the other "Episodes" as they come out! I know better than to say I am a fan! The first thing people would ask is: which costumes do you have? Ummm that would be NONE! Haha great post!!

Amy, we must be the same age! I was, too! And I also remember! It is just IMPOSSIBLE for our kids to understand what a HUGE deal a new movie was like that back then. I have a confession to make: I LOVE to go to midnight Thursday movies! I'm just weird like that...sadly, hubby is not so into that (blue moonish, maybe!)...but it's all good! Yeah, I know, no memorabilia or costumes here, but definitely a movie fan! :)

We are big Star Wars fans in this house - but nothing along those lines!

Leslie & Karolee,

Yup! Some nutty people out there! We are truly sci-fi fans, Star Wars, Stargate SG1, Star Trek, etc, etc, but....you are not likely to see a shrine or costume here! :)

Have a great day, Ya'll!

xoxo,
Maria

Goodness girl!
That is almost as bizarre at the pregnant man living in New York. I saw a commercial saying that Oprah was going to interview him and so I googled him. For true!!!!!--he is real and expecting. He just thought that it was not fair that only women could have babies.
Crazy world.

I love Yoda.

May the Force be with you.

My boys and I had so many light saber fights when they were little. I can make a light saber out of newspaper, pixie sticks, kindling, and when all else fails my arm.

Hi there maria,

i am finally making the rounds.... Thanks for dropping by and catching up with me!

I know that me and you are the same age so I know that we saw Stars Wars at the same time!!!! I was really "impressed" when it came out like you said, and then when it came around again my boys loved it too. I haven´t seen the movies for a long time and was just thinking about them the last couple of days and wondering where they are... they are videos you see and not DVD´s and I think my sister must have them. It´s funny that you would do a post about Stars Wars too!! Sadly to say, it´s amazing how people can take things to extremes... I find that so sad. Hope you will be feeling good soon...sorry that the "bug" has come back to your house!

What Does it Mean Anyway? "Free to Fly"...

Well, it's like this: Here are some of the Webster's Dictionary definitions of Free: a : having the legal and political rights of a citizen b : enjoying civil and political liberty c : enjoying political independence or freedom from outside domination d : enjoying personal freedom : not subject to the control or domination of another2 a : not determined by anything beyond its own nature or being : choosing or capable of choosing for itself...having a scope not restricted by qualification 7 a : not obstructed, restricted, or impeded ...Now, here are some of the Webster's Dictionary definitions of Fly:1 a : to move in or pass through the air with wings b : to move through the air or before the wind or through outer space c : to float, wave, or soar in the air ... a : to take flight ...6 : to work successfully ...Examples which apply from Websters: fly high : to be elated - fly in the face of or fly in the teeth of : to stand or act forthrightly or brazenly in defiance or contradiction of

What does this mean in my life? This means that in life we are meant to be free. While historically mankind has not always enjoyed the opportunity to fully appreciate what that means, we are so indescribably fortunate as to live in a time of the greatest spiritual, physical, financial and political freedom ever known. Freedom doesn't come cheap, nor does it come easy. But the best things in life don't come that way do they? As I write this I am struck by how this sounds like a political statement, and for me this is much more of a spiritual thing, but, same goes for that (political that is). Freedom doesn't come easy. And it's worth whatever fight you have to make to overcome in your life in order to live a life that succeeds. Now the questions is - what is success for you? What is your standard? In my mind what is needed is a definite target - because you can't hit and maintain a moving target. A stable, rock-solid, anchor with no variable, yet multi-faceted. Something pure, just and worthy. If you look at any web page of news you can see that our society is certainly lacking in this area. What a great time to live as a rebel! Nowadays to be a rebel, all you have to do is be willing to engage in the battle of life, while anchored to Christ!
